Eddy Current Dyno
In 1998 we acquired an Eddy Current Factory Dynamometer, the best on the market. We really love to make motorcycles faster and run better. When tuning your bike to peak performance, there is no substitute for this tool.

So what exactly does our dyno do for your bike?

It measures horsepower, torque and analyzes the gas, so we can determine exactly how your bike runs at any given rpm and throttle opening. Then we make adjustments to your carburetor or fuel injection map respectively to obtain maximum horsepower and torque and a smooth transition and rideability.

You can upload a map from the internet, and your bike will run reasonably well, but a custom map will get you all the horsepower your bike has to give, and we are here to make that happen. Below is a chart of a 2006 CB900F (919) that we uploaded with an internet map. The bike ran pretty well, no complaints. It was running a little lean though, so we decided to make a custom map, and we were able to gain a whopping 9 (nine!) horsepower at peak performance, just by making an individual custom map that fits just that bike. (see chart below. The upper two lines are the before-and-after horsepower graph, and the lower is the before-and-after torque graph)

Please do keep in mind that this an unusual result, and "individual results may vary" as they say, but it is a good example for the difference between what's "good enough" with a map from the internet, and what is possible here at Werkstatt.

We don't let you take your bike until it runs to our (and your) satisfaction. This process can take anywhere from 1-5 days to complete. Patience, persistence and the need for perfection are the keys to our success in dynotuning bikes and in achieving maximum horsepower and torque.

A full dyno tune, including installation of the jet kit, runs $300 to $600 on a carburated bike and $375 to $475 on a fuel injected bike for a custom map on a Powercommander. It's best to have a freshly tuned bike before we fine tune it on the dyno, which we can do prior to the work. Call us for a quote!

If you prefer to perform your own tuning work, but would like to take advantage of this superb tuning tool to see what the CO and horsepower measurements are so you can make the appropriate adjustments, we can perform dyno runs on a per-run basis. We would start with a baseline and we will review the chart with you to give you advise on where to go with your jetting or mapping. Then you can do a follow up run to see if we got the desired results. One dyno run is $75 for the first one, the 2nd one is $60 and every run after is only $50.

Please be advised that we can only alter the map or the jetting on bikes that will be operated EXCLUSIVELY ON THE RACE TRACK, as any modifications to the fuel systems ARE NOT STREET LEGAL!
